Successful Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative, with an innovative level editor, has already resulted in 35,000 user maps.

Steam Workshop sale to celebrate Portal 2 DLC

PC gaming legends Valve software have launched a new Steam Workshop sale to celebrate the launch of the Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC.

The Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative bundles a level editor which has taken the community by storm with over 35,000 user-created maps already produced in a matter of days. The maps have been downloaded more than 1.3 million times, Valve said.

The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of Portal 2 "mind-bending puzzles" without ever leaving the game. A far cry from the usual sort of complex level editor.

One set of Portal 2 levels dubbed the 12 Angry Tests by Steam user CaretCaret has been particularly well rated. One user commented that the packs were "Easily the best custom map experience for Portal 2 by far."

Valve’s Weekend Workshop Sale on Steam will offer "Portal 2 for 66% off, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for 33% off and many of this year’s Team Fortress 2 Workshop Items available for 50% off" the regular prices.

Aside from the Perpetual Testing Initiative, Portal 2 is now selling for just over a a fiver. If you don’t have Portal 2 already, this must surely be bargain of the year for one of the finest games ever made.
