Staples to install Amazon lockers

Staples has agreed to install Amazon lockers in its US stores, enabling online shoppers to pick up their purchases from the office supply retailer.

Amazon sends its customers an email containing a unique code, they can then travel to their nearest Staples store and use the code to open a particular locker containing their package.

Shoppers have three days to pick up their delivery, otherwise the parcel gets send back to the depo to make sure the lockers always have available space.

Back in June, Amazon extended its lockers scheme in the UK to include six Co-operative shops. As well as the Co-op, there are Amazon self-service collection points at a number of UK shopping centres.

Amazon has already partnered with other store in the US including 7-Eleven, Safeway and Walgreen’s. If the scheme takes off, it might not be too long till the big yellow lockers are a common sight.
