Sennheiser SP 20 speakerphone sells out

The new Sennheiser SP 20 speakerphone has sold out after launching in the UK last month.

The device can plug into a laptop or mobile and is designed for business users and Microsoft Lync group communications. It can also be used for group Skype chats or to play music.

"We launched the product four weeks ago, put our orders in and within two days we were out of stock," Sennheiser telecommunications sales director Jane Craven told PCR.

"Head office vastly underestimated how popular this product would be. Our poor PR keeps coming to me asking for more units but we don't have any.

"We’ve put the launch on hold until we can guarantee stock. It’s actually the only audio device on the market that is Microsoft certified for group use. Our competitor speakerphones are normally certified for one person to use at a time. So it’s a brilliant business tool and great a great personal tool as well."

Craven also revealed that Sennheiser's telecomms sales were ahead of the market.

"The headset market's global compound annual growth rate has been about nine per cent over the past four years. In the UK for Sennheiser it’s been 39 per cent. So on that basis we’ve had very strong double digit growth year-on year. And we’re looking to grow by 45 per cent this year.

"I think our success has come from people who recognise the brand and quality of the brand - and from people who use Sennheiser products at home and want the same quality in the workplace."
