Rivals Kaspersky Lab and Bitdefender both plan to ramp up their enterprise offerings in 2014

Security giants set to fight over enterprise market

Two of the biggest IT security firms, Kaspersky and Bitdefender, have both revealed that they are making bigger pushes into the enterprise market.

Kaspersky founder, Eugene Kaspersky, told PCR: “We’re doing really good on B2C, and now we want to do the same on B2B. At the moment we have about 60 per cent of our revenue coming from the consumer side and 40 per cent from B2B.

“We are opening doors to many enterprises. Some are office-space based, like banks, and some have industrial systems like factories or sea ports.”

Kaspersky added that the firm will have a team offering technical support as well as providing extra solutions to enterprises, but insists that it will not be taking a step back from producing consumer security software.

Bitdefender’s chief security strategist, Catalin Cosoi, has also revealed to PCR that the firm has been investing ‘a lot’ in the enterprise market over the past two years and expects that products will be available this year.

“Bitdefender is known more for our consumer products, but we really want to explore more of the enterprise area,” said Cosoi.

“I can tell you that we have a pretty unique product in terms of virtualisation and end-point security. We’re working with all the virtualisation providers, it’s going to be really cool.”

Cosoi explained that with the number of high profile corporate breaches over the past two years, there is very high interest from enterprises to secure their networks, adding:“In this field you always have a job.”
