Scan Computers, the system builder behind the UK’s first official Steam Machine, is considering supplying the unit to other retailers.
The NC10 Steam Machine was unveiled during CES 2014 earlier this month. It will launch in the second half of the year with prices starting from £699.
Scan’s James Gorbold told PCR: "Right now the plan is to sell the NC10 direct from Scan.
"However as there has been such substantial interest in the design we are considering additional routes to market."
Scan is one of 14 Steam Machine partners who have collaborated with Valve to offer a console-like gaming PC running on Valve’s SteamOS operating system.
The Scan 3XS Steam NC10 uses custom components encased within a 202x369x45mm three-litre volume chassis. The £699 standard specification will include a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M graphics card, Intel Core i3 4000M processor, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz RAM and a 500GB Western Digital hard disk. Customers will be also able to customise the system further using Scan’s online configurator.
Elan Raja III, director of Scan Computers, previously said the buzz surrounding Steam Machines is "massive".
