Scan Computers wins 2015 Dream PC award

Retailer Scan Computers has picked up this year’s Dream PC award from Custom PC magazine.

The Scan 3XS Barracuda system received the accolade, giving Scan its fifth Dream PC accolade in total.

"For 2015 we wanted to build a more curvaceous, shapely PC than before so using the theme of the fearsome Barracuda we returned to the classic SilverStone TJ07 case," Scan said in a statement on its Dream PC web page.

"However, as the TJ07 is now a little long in the tooth we have extensively modified it, both internally and externally, to bring it up to date. Starting from the inside we have added in a new motherboard backplate to aid cable management and fill in the ghastly holes around the board.

"Another new addition is a horizontal plate between the upper and lower chambers, which again hides unsightly cables and components such as the pumps. All these plates have been powder coated black, along with the interior of the case to give a seamless continuous colour scheme."

Scan also reworked the front of the case, replacing the 5.25-inch drive cages with two EK Rex X3 reservoirs, as well as removing the 3.5-inch drive bay mounted USB/audio jack unit.

Nvidia congratulated Scan on Facebook, saying: "A huge congrats to Scan Computers UK for winning the 2015 Custom PC Dream PC award. Damn this thing looks good. Does it come in green?"
