Samsung's UK consumer electronics director Andy Griffiths has claimed that he believes Blu-ray only has five years left in it, before it is superseded by a next generation format. In an interview with Pocket Lint, Griffith said: "I think it has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn't give it 10."
He went on to say that this Christmas will prove to be the format's watershed moment, adding that the firm is currently struggling to meet retailer demand for the Xmas period. "It's going to be huge. We are heavily back-ordered at the moment."
