Samsung has become the latest smartphone maker to launch a defence of its products, following Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ claims that certain mobile devices suffer from signal problems similar to those of the iPhone 4.
In a web page dedicated to demonstrating that the iPhone 4 is not the only handset that loses reception if held a certain way, Apple wrote: “In our tests, the Samsung Omnia II dropped from 4 bars to 1 bar when held in a way that attenuated the signal.”
However, Samsung has refuted its rival’s claims. “Based on years of experience of designing high-quality phones, Samsung mobile phones employ an internal antenna design technology that optimises reception quality for any type of hand grip,” the firm said.
Nokia, RIM and HTC have also responded to the accusations, which Steve Jobs made on Friday, while offering iPhone 4 owners a free case which will supposedly solve the device’s signal problems.
