Roku Streaming Stick launches in October

Roku’s flash drive-sized Streaming Stick will be available next month for $99.

The USB-shaped device will bring the same feature set as the Roku 2 XS set-top box, but in a smaller package.

It works directly with HDTVs with power, remote control and data signals fed through an MHL-compatible HDMI port.

The Roku Streaming Stick provides video content whilst drawing power from the TV and works with the TV’s existing remote control.

Be warned, the device won’t work with all TVs with a USB port - only models with the compatible MHL technology.

In August Roku announced that it had struck partnerships with a number of tech companies to support the Roku device, including Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Integra and Element Electronics.
