RET UK has called on resellers to prepare for the impending launch of battery recycling legislation.
Speaking to PCR, managing director Nik Hilliard said that the issues the channel faced with the implementation of the WEEE directive should be treated as a warning.
"The WEEE legislation was a nightmare for resellers in the first instance, back when it was launched," he explained. "This is a problem that’s going to become more and more evident."
However, the company feels that it is better prepared than most for the new legislation. "We are well ahead of schedule," he added. "We wanted to be ahead of the game with that the new legislation, which is why we said to our customers, let us deal with it and don’t worry about it."
In April, Valpak told PCR that it was urging resellers to sign up to the scheme to avoid the issues that plagued the roll out of WEEE.
