Delegates and event partners report on a great day of doing business

PCR Retail Boot Camp: Trade applauds event

The first PCR Retail Boot Camp saw an excellent start yesterday, with 250 retailers from across the PC and IT trade flocking to the Brewery in London for the conference and expo.

The morning conference session, which was closed by BBC journalist Penny Haslam’s keynote speech, was packed out and saw an enthusiastic exchange of views between retail and channel experts during the two panel sessions.

CompTIA’s Kris Nagamootoo commented: “The day has been very useful; it’s been a very good turn out. We’ve had a lot of interest in what we do, a lot of people have approached us to find out more about our company so there’s a lot of things we can follow up with. The organisation of the event had been very good and the venue is fantastic. All in all it’s been a great day for us.”

Paul from retailer Paul’s Computer Services said: "I very much enjoyed the PCR Retail Boot Camp – the speakers gave me some ideas (some I already knew but had forgotten). Perhaps it was the atmosphere, but for me the expo part of the Boot Camp was much better than the normal trade shows are, I even opened a couple of trade accounts.

"Free coffee, lunch, and even an Apple TV, what more could I ask for? Very, very well done! Looking forward to next year’s."

Hama’s Ross Ditchburn noted: “There’s been a lot of attendees, everyone’s been stopping by, asking questions and getting information. A lot of new contacts have been made and a lot of high-end useful people have been coming through so it’s been very good.”

On the software side, Parallels’ Rudolf Schubert said: “Lots of people came to us, and they were very focused, knew a bit about the product and wanted to know more. That’s very nice for us.”

Over on the Computers Unlimited stand, Tony Scully told us: “We are genuinely pleased with the day. We’re pleased by how busy we’ve been, and with the diversity of the customers that we’ve seen, so I think on the back of this it will be a success.”

Comments flooded in on Twitter too, using the hashtag #pcrbootcamp.

Craig Hume from Utopia Computers (@TheRealUtopia) said: "Brill day at #pcrbootcamp yesterday. Met some great people & am looking forward to getting in back to the store to work on the new ideas :)."

Ecommerce solutions provider @MoreFrom_Me said: "Great #pcrbootcamp event yesterday. Thanks to @pcr_online and @pcrbootcamp all very interesting and met some great people."

‏ @sharkituk commented: "Thanks to the organisers and exhibitors at #pcrbootcamp. A really productive day."
