DSGi has launched a remote repair service under its Tech Guys brand, aimed at seizing a stake in the expanding sector. In a serious challenge to independent repair schemes such as FixITlocal and GeekSquad, the service will offer remote repairs for issues such as printer driver issues and other minor problems. The scheme is aimed at reducing the amount of unnecessary house-calls TechGuys staff have to make.
According to DSGi, the service will cost £89.99 per year; a pay monthly service will also be available, however, the retailer has yet to announce the price.
Jason Smith, DSGi head of trading for the TechGuys team, said: "This is a 'how-to' type of service. We think it's a big area where we can help customers and add value for them."
The retailer has said that it expect around 10,000 customers within the first year.
