Panasonic plans to budget $62 million for LCD panel procurement from Taiwan, according to sources speaking to Digitimes. AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics are said to be the beneficiaries.Panasonic Taiwan general manager, Shimizu Toshiki, indicated that the budget will fulfil the company’s expected growth for Plasma and LCD TV growth in 2008. The company expects to see a year-on-year growth of 50 per cent for plasma TVs, and 30 per cent for LCD TVs.
Panasonic also plan to invest in emerging regions, such as Brazil, China and Vietnam, and hope that this could result in a double-digit shipment growth.
