Orange is to trial a new IT and consumer electronics focused store in Milton Keynes, as part of a major new strategy.
With an emphasis on laptops and other consumer electronics, the store will be a test bed for its new multimedia format. It will also run a series of events throughout the year designed to highlight the various products available in the store.
It is a part of a wider change within the network operator's retail business. This week, the company revealed that it would be trialling a franchise operation, with the first store set to open in Bridlington, near Hull. It plans to open up a further nine franchises by the end of the year.
Orange is to open 20 concessions within HMV by the end of August, while up to 100 have been earmarked to take the store within a store approach, as part of its target to have 440 stores around the UK by the end of 2009.
