Mobile service provider Orange is set to enter the laptop market with the launch of its own branded notebook, as part of a set of wide ranging reforms aimed at turning the firm into the UK's "the best-loved telecommunications company."The laptop will be branded 'totally connected', however, no further details on the device were revealed, nor was any information on a potential launch date revealed.
The announcement is part of a wider range of changes being instigated by Orange's new chief executive Tom Alexander, including the creation of two new business units aimed at consumers and businesses.
"We're proposing to change the shape of the organisation and the way the business works to serve the 21st century customer," said Alexander. "These changes are designed to stop duplication within our organisation, and to ensure that we are agile, and able to deliver and react quickly to customers' needs.
"The telecommunications market has evolved dramatically in recent times and it is my aim to make sure that Orange is at the forefront of serving today's 21st century customer – a customer who is web-savvy, product-savvy and, quite rightly, demands a premium service at the same time as best value for money."
The company also announced plans to step up the numbers of stores it has on the High Street to around 400 nationwide.
