A pair of two GM204-based cards could hit the market in August

Nvidia GeForce GTX 880 graphics card to be shown off at Gamescom – report

Nvidia will reveal a new GeForce GTX 880 graphics card at Gamescom 2014 in Cologne next month, rumours suggest.

A pair of two GM204-based cards could appear in mid-August, reports Videocardz.com, which states there are two events during that time where Nvidia could present the card to the public.

Siggraph 2014 is a conference on computer graphics which takes place in Canada from August 10th to 14th, while Gamescom will run from August 13th to 17th, where Nvidia has exhibitor space. The latter event will take place in Germany and showcase the latest video games and gaming services.

A post on the Notebookreview forum shows a high 3D Mark benchmarking score for a GPU which appears to be displayed as 880.

Elsewhere, Nvidia has published an ‘Ultimate is coming’ countdown teaser website.

Earlier this month, rumours surfaced suggesting Nvidia will soon launch a new Maxwell GM204 GPU which could power at least four new GeForce GTX graphics cards.

Those reports claimed that the GTX 880 will launch in Q3 2014, with a second wave of GTX graphics cards set to launch next year.
