Nokia is hoping to make a comeback into the mobile phone market.
The firm is reportedly hiring software experts, testing new products and looking for sales partners to launch itself back into the market.
Nokia sold its handset business to Microsoft in 2013, and has since focused on manufacturing telecoms equipment.
Although, Nokia must wait until 2016 for its comeback, after a non-complete deal with Microsoft expires, reports Reuters.
But rather than make its own new smartphones, the firm is seeking partners for brand-licensing deals, where Nokia will design the phones to feature its brand.
This will allow other companies to mass-produce the goods, market and sell the devices.
Nokia has slowly been trying to re-enter the market with the launch of the N1, an Android tablet, that went on sale in January in China. This was also produced under a brand-licensing deal.
This news comes after Nokia ruled out a return to the smartphone industry earlier this year, stating: “Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets."
