Nokia has denied claims its phones are loaded with controversial keystroke logging software, which allegedly has the ability to spy on users activities.
It follows claims that software from app maker Carrier IQ has been secretly logging location, keystrokes, and messages on smartphones from a number of vendors.
"Nokia is aware of inaccurate reports which state that software from Carrier IQ has been found on Nokia devices. Carrier IQ does not ship products for any Nokia devices, so these reports are wrong," Nokia spokesman James Etheridge told Dow Jones Newswires.
The story broke when handset security researcher Trevor Eckhart posted a video online, claiming to expose the snooping practices of Carrier IQ.
For its part, the company denies it is involved in such nefarious affairs at all, saying in statement: "Our software is designed to help mobile network providers diagnose critical issues that lead to problems such as dropped calls and battery drain."
