A new UK trade show dedicated to the consumer electronic sector will debut next year, with the mission statement of creating a level playing field by standardising exhibit sizes, regardless of marketing budgets. The event will take place in London's Emirates Stadium – home of Arsenal football team – running from May 12th to the 13th 2009.
So far Hama UK, Maxell Europe and the PCA have given their support to the show, with many more expected to follow suit.
"Because the maximum stand size is 30 square meters, and the early bird shell scheme rate is £200 per square meter, it means CONTECH 2009 will be an event that enables exhibitors to compete on a level playing field and not on the size of their marketing budget," event director Richard Milbourn told PC Retail.
"This is the only UK trade show that focuses purely on consumer technology products ranging from audio and other home and mobile entertainment systems to home media and information and communication devices.
"It recognises the exciting changes taking place in this sector with the increasing convergence between electronics and computers and the increasing number of routes to market for manufacturers and distributors via retailers, resellers, installers and other buyers.
"The best way I can describe CONTECH is a mini CES with a bit of IFA, Cedia Expo, Integrated Systems Europe and Channel Expo mixed in."
