This week’s new IT and tech product round up includes devices from Prestigio, PNY, Philips, Qpad and more.
Prestigiohas launched two new smartphones – the Grace X3 (pictured) and Grace X5, both with Dual SIM capabilities and running on Android Kitkat (with the option to support the V5.0 Lollipop update). They both have a 1.3 GHz Quad Core CPU and 1GB RAM and 8G eMMC, and come with 200GB free cloud storage.
The X3 is 8mm thick and weighs 118gms. The phone comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, Dual SIM capabilities,
The X5 is 8mm thick and weighs 137gms. It comes with a 4.7-inch IPS display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, with a 2.0 big aperture lens, and a 5-megapixel front camera.
MMD, the tech firm and brand licence partner for Philips Monitors, has announced a new addition to the line-up of Philips UltraWide displays. The new 34-inch BDM3470UP display offers Quad HD resolution of 3440×1440 pixels, an UltraWide 21:9 panoramic view and a Philips SmartUniformity mode. This features dedicated metrics to assess colour accuracy, and is calibrated to deliver at least 95 per cent average luminance uniformity.
It supports HDMI, MHL, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA as well as USB 3.0, and is available now for £749.
Elsewhere, Qpad has launched the 8K PC mouse. Its new sensor pictures the surface with a shutter speed of 12,000 frames per second covering an area of 30×30 pixels per frame. This generates an image of 10.8 MB data in processing power per second. Underlying this is 8200 true CPI and advanced 32-bit ARM processor controller unit to optimise the tracking performance.
The new 8K mouse features seven programmable buttons for profiles, sensitivity, shortcuts, keys and macro recordings you can accurately move at speeds of up to 3.8 meter per second without losing tracking abilities. The left and right buttons from Omron are improved to last 20 million clicks, and there are 16.8 million possible colour variations made possible by the mouse’s new RGB LED lights.
StarTech has announced the expansion of its line of HDD enclosures to include a 5-bay hot-swap hard drive enclosure (£272.85 exc. VAT) as well as an 8-bay hot-swap hard drive enclosure (£367.99 exc. VAT). The new enclosures enable IT professionals to add data storage capacity to their computer, providing external storage capacity for video editing or photo editing stations, making it easier to work with very large file sizes.
“These new 5 and 8 Bay Enclosures offer robust external data storage for IT professionals or anyone who routinely works with large files or volumes of data” said Juliet Wei, Senior Product Manager for StarTech.com’s line of HDD enclosures.
Additionally, PNY is pushing its media readers. The portable Wireless Media Reader is compatible with Apple and Android devices, and allows users to share, stream and save their media content while on the move.
You can plug in a storage device (USB, SD card, MicroSD card) and access all your files on your mobile device via a secure wireless connection. The SRP for this product is £49.99.
Then there’s the High Performance 3.0 Flash Card Reader, which is 10 times faster than a standard USB 2.0 card reader. It’s compatible with all flash card formats and has an SRP of £14.99.
