Turtle Beach HyperSound glass speakers
Turtle Beach has shown off some impressive new tech featuring its ‘HyperSound’ technology. New speakers create directional audio using a transparent pane of glass.
HyperSound technology is a new approach to sound delivery that generates a directional, narrow beam of audio in the air. Similar to how a flashlight directs a beam of light, HyperSound directs a beam of audio to listeners in a specific spot, delivering an ‘immersive, 3D-like audio experience’.
"This latest innovation opens the doors for exploration into future glass-based directional audio products and applications in the consumer, commercial and hearing healthcare spaces, including potentially integrating into desktop monitors, commercial displays, desktop speakers, automotive dashboard glass to provide audio warnings directly at the driver, and more," Turtle Beach said in a statement.
AMD launches RX 480
AMD has launched the Radeon RX 480 graphics card, designed to deliver ‘enthusiast-level gaming performance and features, the world’s most advanced graphics technology and an extraordinary value proposition to fans and gamers around the world’.
The Radeon RX 480 starts at $199 for the Radeon RX 480 4GB card and $239 for the Radeon RX 480 8GB card. The new card is built to power VR.
KD UK’s latest kids smart watch is on the way
KD UK has announced the latest addition to its Kurio range of child safe technology, the Kurio Watch.
The smart watch for children delivers gaming, education and social communication through a multi-functional touch screen. The watch features a customisable interface, 128 MB of internal memory, a camera and video recorder. It arrives in mid-July priced at £79.99.
New Netgear products
Networking vendor Netgear is expanding its portfolio of products supporting the latest ultra-fast VDSL connections for HD streaming and online gaming.
There’s the new Netgear AC1200 WiFi High-Speed DSL Gateway Router (£99) and Netgear Broadband High-Speed DSL Modem (£34). Both arrive in July.
Mini-ITX motherboard from Advantech
Advantech has announced the release of a high-end Mini-ITX motherboard with wide range 12~24V DC power input.
The AIMB-275 is based on the Intel Q170 chipset and the latest 6th generation Intel Core processor, bundled with Advantech’s own WISE-PaaS/RMM software suite that offers remote management and security features.
Be Quiet shows off new high-end cases
Be Quiet has presented the Dark Base 900 series featuring two high-end cases.
They boast a modular design, efficient cooling with SilentWings 3 fans and an extremely low noise level. The Dark Base Pro 900 has a side window made of tempered and tinted glass, and also includes LED lighting and a wireless Qi charger.
The Dark Base 900 and the Dark Base Pro 900 are available now. The price of the standard version is £159, while the top model costs £199.
Panasonic’s ToughPad tablet
The fourth generation of the rugged Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 tablet has launched, featuring improved performance and communication capabilities, with an increased 14 hour battery life and the Windows 10 Pro operating system.
Dynamode launches USB3 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter

Plantronics’ console headset line-up
Plantronics has announced a new series of RIG headsets for Xbox One and PS4. Plantronics latest addition to the RIG family of products is the RIG 800 series, which claim to be the first wireless gaming headsets with up to 24 hour battery life.
The RIG 800 series joins the RIG 4VR announced earlier this year, which is the industry’s first headset developed specifically for PlayStation VR. Both products join a host of RIG audio solutions, including the RIG 500 Series, available for console and PC designed to scale to gamers’ needs and preferences.
