Netatmo has announced the release of is new smart home security camera Welcome, the first of its kind to feature facial recognition technology.
The consumer electronics company first launched Welcome at trade show CES 2015, which is now available to customers with a retail price of £199.
Welcome’s facial recognition technology refers to people by their name and notifies the user when a stranger’s face appears via a smartphone.
The camera informs users who walks through the door and when children return home from school.
In addition it features Wi-F connectivity, full HD broadcast video, a 130-degree view angle and night vision.
Welcome also scooped four awards during CES as part of the 2015 CES Innovations Awards in the Smart Home, Home Appliances, Digital Imaging and Tech for a Better World categories.

This news comes after Argus Insights revealed that consumer demand in connected home devices is skrinking.
