Motorola will split into two separate companies From January 4th next year.
Motorola Solutions will be in charge of the infrastructure businesses, while Motorola Mobility Holdings will have responsibility for mobile phones and consumer devices. Jha-zilla will run the latter.
This move has not surprised industry watchers, given that the handset unit has rehabilitated after a number of unsuccessful years. The division is now profitable, thanks to the success of Android phones like the Droid and Defy.
