Microsoft tops UK Superbrands chart

Microsoft tops UK Superbrands chart

Microsoft is once again the UK’s top consumer brand, having been awarded pole position in the Superbrands survey, which ranks companies by consumer recognition, quality and reliability.

The software vendor lost out last year, when it was second place to Google. The search specialist is now in third position, while Microsoft rival Apple is in ninth place.

The CEO of the Centre for Brand Analysis, which carries out the research for Superbrands UK, Stephen Cheliotis told the BBC: “Actually making the top 500 itself is an achievement - the competition amongst brands for consumer attention and share of wallet is intense and growing fiercer.”

Other IT firms to make the top 100 were IBM and Dell, which were placed 61st and 63rd, while Hewlett Packard was placed 71st and Intel made 98th.
