Microsoft has revealed record results for Q4 2009, with net income of $6.66 billion.
These results included deferred revenue of $1.71 billion related to the Windows 7 upgrade programme and pre-sales of the OS to retail partners, which brought total revenue for the quarter up to $17.31 billion.
“Exceptional demand for Windows 7 led to the positive top-line growth for the company,” said Microsoft’s chief financial officer, Peter Klein. “Our continuing commitment to managing costs allowed us to drive earnings performance ahead of the revenue growth.”
