Microsoft has teamed up with Asus to extol the virtues of Windows, as it launches it latest offensive against Linux.
Called 'It's Better with Windows', the website has been designed to advise potential netbook customers of the benefits of Microsoft-based netbooks, such as Windows Live and parental controls, reports The Register.
Aimed at the general consumer, it claims Windows "helps you quickly and easily get online and connect to your devices and services – without dealing with an unfamiliar environment and major compatibility issues".
Linux quickly established itself as the dominant OS when netbooks first launched, but a concerted effort from Microsoft saw Windows climb from a ten per cent install rate in early 2008 to 96 per cent in February this year, according to NPD.
The joint promotion comes less than a fortnight after Asus announced that it would be dropping all of its Linux-based models as part of its major revamp of its netbook strategy.
