Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer took the opportunity at his CES pre-event keynote speech to announce the imminent availability of the Windows 7 trial version, and to talk about a number of the operating system’s features.He takes over the firm’s regular slot at the giant technology show from chairman Bill Gate’s, who has retired from the day-to-day running of Microsoft.
Ballmer announced that the beta version of Windows 7 will be available from tomorrow, as will the latest version of Windows Live.
Apparently the trial version is ‘feature complete’ and will be largely identical to the final version.
the main aspect of the presentation was the idea of making different devices work together more smoothly – and the expansion of Windows from a PC operating system to something more ubiquitous across numerous devices.
This is essentially laying out the same principles associated with the phrases ‘digital home’, 'connected home’, or ‘connected world’ which have been banded about for years now. However the new features in both Windows 7 and Live do appear provide some more tangible software to back up the buzz words.
“I’m thrilled to announce the availability of the Windows 7 beta, which is on track to deliver simplicity and reliability,” said Ballmer. “Windows 7 and Windows Live are part of an incredible pipeline of consumer technology that is making it easier than ever for people to communicate, share and get more done.”
The beta of Windows 7 can be downloaded from here as of tomorrow.
