Microsoft introduces Value Added Distributor scheme

Microsoft has unveiled its new global distributor programme that aims to provide additional rewards to distributors who can provide strong support for its newer technologies.

To do so, it has created the Value Add Distributor category for those partners who are able to drive reseller readiness, capability and accreditation, and has already awarded this status to Bell Micro and Computer 2000.

The programme covers three technological areas: virtualisation, security and unified communications. In order to gain the accreditation distributors must present a specific business plan for one of these areas, and agree to a defined investment in terms of manpower and qualifications.

“We are delighted to become the first Microsoft VAD in the UK.” Said Computer 2000’s country manager Lee Perkins. “During the last twelve months we have worked extremely closely with Microsoft to develop new business opportunities for a number of resellers, both in conventional licensing but equally importantly in the virtualisation and security markets via our specialist technical and business development resources.”
