Microsoft has issued preliminary results from its annual SMB/Partner Insight Report, which suggest that small business spending on IT will rise this year.
According to the report, the small business market, which represents 44 per cent of overall IT spend, will increase spending by an average of 16 per cent, with 63 per cent of reseller and distributor partners predicting that their customers will increase their IT budgets.
The findings show that the spending is likely to target cloud solutions such as remote storage and remote working, both of which are predicted to rise by 19 per cent.
“The most competitive SMBs are investing in IT that will not only help protect and strengthen their business, but prepare them for success when economic conditions improve,” said Microsoft’s vice president of small and medium business and distribution for the worldwide small and midmarket solutions and partners group, Birger Steen.
“Technology can buoy smaller businesses through turbulent times — and which technologies SMBs choose can help determine the speed of their return to financial stability.”
