Microsoft has beaten Google to gain the title of the top ‘superbrand’ in a list of the top 500 business brands in the UK.
Google, which came fifth, was also beaten by smartphone brand BlackBerry. Along with Microsoft they were the only three tech names to make the top ten in the Business Superbrands 2010 list. The companies were compiled by the Centre for Brand Analysis, which creates lists based on the opinions of marketing professionals, businesspeople and consumers.
The top ten brands are:
1. Microsoft
2. Rolls-Royce Group
3. BlackBerry
4. Virgin Atlantic
5. Google
6. London Stock Exchange
7. GlaxoSmithKline
8. British Airways
9. VISA
10. PricewaterhouseCoopers
Apple came in 18th place, while Nokia was 19th. The full list of the 500 Business Superbrands 2010 can be found here.
