Distributor Micro-P has formed a specialist education team in response to increased demand for new technology within schools and other learning environments.
Richard Bovingdon has been appointed to head up the new team, which will also incorporate the firm’s current AV and network infrastructure teams.
The specialist education team will aim to provide Micro-P customers with new opportunities by stimulating demand from end users through engagement with schools and working with Becta, the government body responsible for technology in education.
Bovingdon, who was previously sales director at IT solutions provider Lanway, said: “I am really pleased to be joining Micro-P at this developmental stage. The collaborative experiences of the team working in synergy, will deliver high performing infrastructure systems and immersive front end systems to staff and students, with Micro-P’s expertise in the IT market adding further value to the proposition.”
Paul Bryan, Micro-P’s sales director, added: “The education sector boasts significant investment opportunities into IT and the development of transformational technologies. Creating a dedicated team from individuals with a proven track record in dealing with schools, local authorities, Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and academy programs, supported by Micro-P’s product portfolio, will allow the supply of flexible ICT solutions.”
Educational tech is an increasingly lucrative sector – earlier this year almost 30,000 visitors braved the ‘big freeze’ to attend BETT 2010 at London Olympia, where hundreds of tech firms showcased scores of products signifying new ways for the industry to sell into learning environments.
