UK Ink cartridge vendor makes major acquisition ahead of a European push.

Medea gets JR Max

PC Retail can exclusively reveal that Scottish based consumables outfit Medea has acquired the trade and assets of JR Max, owners of the technology and patents for the JR Inkjet Just Refill brand of inkjet cartridges and refill products.

The Just Refill product line bolsters Medea’s Inkrite PhotoPlus ink and toner range and puts the firm in a stronger position to penetrate the European market.

JR Max will relocate to the Medea headquarters based in Dundee. Existing orders will be handled from the current Essex office, with a full switch to Dundee planned within two months.

"JR is a world class brand and this acquisition further improves the range of unique world-beating products we are able to offer our partners,” said Yusuf Okhai, managing director of Medea. “Medea has a class-leading range of products and industry-leading service levels.

"At a time where we are already experiencing exciting growth in the business, this will allow the company to reinforce its position as the supplier of choice within the industry," he continued. "The recognition from the Channel Expo Awards that we deliver real added value as well as product and service excellence will really let resellers see that we are here to stay, we are here to succeed, and that their customers are the real winners here.”
