Upright design is said to reduce twisting of the arm muscles

Maplin own-brand ‘upright’ laser mouse launches

Maplin has launched an own-brand ergonomic laser mouse designed to reduce discomfort and fatigue.

The Maplin Pro Ergonomic Mouse stands upright as opposed to horizontal and looks a bit like a walnut whip.

The upright design is said to reduce twisting of the arm muscles and cause less tension and muscle overuse than traditional mouse types.

The mouse features wireless technology, left and right click buttons, non-slip rubber finish and a detachable palm rest.

Available from Maplin.co.uk as well as in stores, the Pro Ergonomic Mouse has an RRP of £49.99.

Earlier this year, Montagu put Maplin up for sale after ten years of owning the brand. Montagu owned Maplin since 2004 and first tried to sell the retailer in 2011, appointing KPMG to lead the process. The electronics retailer was bought by Rutland Partners in June for £85 million.

This year also saw Maplin launch its first ever national TV campaign ‘Maplin Moments’.

“The launch of Maplin’s first national TV campaign is the culmination of a lot of strategic change within the business. Our aim is to showcase the brand to a much wider audience, underpinning our role as Britain’s leading electronics specialist retailer,” explained CEO John Cleland.
