Man jailed for selling fake Cisco gear

A man has received a 30 month sentence in a US prison for selling counterfeit Cisco networking products.

According to Network World, Yongcai Li operated under the business name Gaoyi Tech and procured fake equipment in China before sending it to colleagues in the US.

Li was arrested in Las Vegas, during last year’s Consumer Electronics Show and was sentenced in California. As well as his custodial sentence, he has also been ordered to pay $800,000 restitution to Cisco.

Li’s sentence is the latest development in a crackdown on counterfeit networking products that the FBI has been undertaking since 2005.
