Apple has been described as 'recession-proof' by an analyst, with Shaw Wu of American Technology Research adding that he expects the firm's Mac unit to grow over 40 per cent during 2008.Wu made the statements in an investors note. "Our sense is that the Mac business appears to be recession proof. We were already looking for robust Mac unit growth of 38 per cent, year on year, but now we think it may be closer to 42 per cent."
He added that he expects sales of the MacBook Air would likely account for 25 per cent of Apple's laptop sales during the period as consumers ignored the its limited functionality.
Wu's comments come on the same day as suggestions that AppleInsider claimed the vendor is working on a replacement for the Mac Mini.
The website claims sources told it that the firm is planning to reintroduce the model as economic conditions move demand towards lower cost PCs.
