Infamous thought-to-be-disbanded hackers LulzSec have hacked the British News Corporation tabloid the Sun, posting a fake story and claiming to have stolen sensitive data from the publisher.
The group, which had previously claimed to have disbanded following '50 days of Lulz', redirected the Sun's website to a fake story titled "Media moguls body discovered."
"WE HAVE JOY WE HAVE FUN, WE HAVE MESSED UP MURDOCH'S SUN," the group tweeted.
Within a couple of hours of the hack appearing, News Corporation appeared to take their own DNS servers down and with it a large array of other websites including major newspapers.
At time of writing the websites appear to have been restored. At one point the Sun's website was redirecting traffic to the LulzSec twitter account where the group played up to the media attention.
"For all you new people that are watching us right now: this is what we do, this is how we do it. High-quality entertainment just for you."
Alluding to a data breach and the promise of a release of News Corp emails, the group claimed the "real damage is currently giving the admins heart attacks."
