The Mayor has revealed plans to bring Wi-Fi Internet to London transport including the underground.
In addition to the already announced plans to install Wi-Fi base stations throughout the British capital, Johnson said that bus stops and underground station platforms would also be targets for the service.
"The truth is, I'm on the side of progress if we can possibly do it," said Johnson. "I think people want the facility of looking at their BlackBerries," he added.
The cost of installation of such an extensive network would likely be considerable but it's thought that a private partnership would be sought to install the hardware in exchange for a charge for access. It's yet not known which operator would be used.
