Apple’s OS X 10.5 Leopard has moved two million units in its first month, with profits up 32.8 per cent over the previous OS, Tiger. Market research firm, NPD, investigated sales in America and discovered that Leopard moved 20.5 per cent more than Tiger in its first month. Leopard retails at £85.Following this news, Apple has predicted rapid growth in sales of its PC and notebook ranges, spurred partly by Leopard. In September, 58 per cent of premium computers sold were Apple computers, whereas Apple sales made up 12.2 per cent of the U.S indirect sales market in the same month.
Leopard’s critical success comes in contrast to Microsoft’s Vista, which has struggled to make a positive impact in its first year.
