Lenovo names Luca Rossi as new EMEA president

Lenovo has appointed Luca Rossi as president of the tech firm’s business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Rossi is currently president of Latin America (LATAM) and moving forward, will lead both EMEA and LATAM. He will succeed Eric Cador, who is leaving Lenovo on May 10th to return to his consulting business.

Commenting on Rossi’s appointment, corporate vice president and COO Gianfranco Lanci, said: “Luca has a fantastic track record as a business leader both in and out of Lenovo. In the year that he’s led the LATAM business he has transformed our results and share in what are very complex and diverse markets.

“As we look forward he has a great foundation laid by Eric to build on – a foundation that with Luca’s leadership and experience will ensure we can deliver on our business ambitions as a company.”

Prior to joining Lenovo in 2015 Rossi was EMEA president for Acer, following various roles over a six-year period for the company.

Before Acer, Rossi was general manager for Asus Europe after successfully founding and running a system integrator business in Italy for 11 years.

This appointment announcement comes a day after Lenovo announced that it will begin manufacturing enterprise products for EMEA customers in Europe.

The firm’s move to manufacture its storage and networking products for data centre environments in the EU will enable an improvement of up to five days on delivery times to customers (depending on the country) and lower operation costs (eg reduced freight costs) that can be passed on to customers and partners.

EMEA enterprise customers will also receive products faster and more efficiently, but with no loss in quality, promises Lenovo.
