Television is set to cement its place at the centre of the digital hearth according to iSuppli, with the market research firm predicting that growth in the market is set to see LCD televisions become the largest consumer electronics sector by 2012.iSuppli predicts that the large levels of growth in the market – primarily driven by the move to digital broadcasting and major sports events – will see LCD televisions depose consumer appliances as the number one market in consumer electronics.
Other factors such as televisions increasingly being used by various devices looking to control media in the living room, such as Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3, as well as home media centres.
