Memory product expert Kingston Technology is moving into the retail sector, with plans to become the market leader flash and DRAM products vendor within the sector after signing lucrative deals with PC World and Staples. After success in the corporate market, the firm intends to capture the retail space with bespoke packages of its range – which includes photo, video, USB, mobile and generic PC memory products.
It will also offer a customisation programme, which will see co-branding with partners for content loaded onto USB drives and memory cards.
"Kingston's success in the channel and corporate sectors has paved the way for our move into the retail arena," said Paul Leaman, European retail director at Kingston Technology (pictured).
"In Europe, our aim is to grow our value market share in the USB space by five per cent and to also increase market share by three per cent in the Flash memory market too.
"We plan on investing significantly and forming strong relationships with key retailers by improving our consumer product offering, trading terms and capabilities.
"We have many exciting customer win announcements in the pipeline, which illustrate our commitment to this venture.
"Our goal is to become a market leader in the retail channel for our Flash and DRAM memory products," he concluded.
