IBM is apparently to make 2,868 workers redundant, throwing some weight behind rumours that it is looking cut up 16,000 jobs in total. The job cuts were reported on a union website, which describes itself as an ‘IBM employee organization that is dedicated to preserving and improving our rights and benefits at IBM.’
Lee Conrad, national coordinator of the Alliance said: “The Alliance is strongly urging IBM not to go forward with a new round of job cuts and to stop the off-shoring of U.S. workers’ jobs.”
