NovoThink – a US firm founded by 'technology veterans and environmental enthusiasts' – has launched a range of solar powered portable chargers for the iPhone and iPod called Surge, which allow users to power up the devices anywhere, for free.
One of the downfalls of having feature laden smartphones is the power they consume. Browsing the internet while out and about, for instance, will dramatically reduce battery life.
Combined with the environmental connotations the device presents, Surge ticks a lot of the right boxes for consumer popularity.
As yet, there is no UK pricing or launch information.
