Bookmaker Paddy Power is offering odds of 4/6 on Apple recalling the iPhone 4, which has been beset by technical niggles since it launched last month.
The main issue relates to poor signal reception, which Apple sought to address in a slightly bizarre open letter to users earlier this month.
But that hasn't stopped the negative press, which was compounded over the weekend when US-based Consumer Reports said it couldn't recommend the device, suggesting that users tape it up to fix the reception problem.
