Reports suggest that the next-generation iPad will also boast some enviable specifications.

iPad 3 coming in March, report

Apple will launch the next-generation iPad 3 in March at an event in San Francisco, according to a All Things D report.

A March event is firmly in the anticipated launch frame already expected by analysts and perhaps mindful of a raft of new competition expected later in the year with Windows 8 devices, rumours of the iPad 3 specifications hint at a substantial leap forward over the former device.

Among the anticipated enhancements for the new Apple tablet is a faster chip, like a quad-core ‘A5’, massively higher resolution ‘Retina’ display resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and potentially 4G mobile ‘LTE’ support.

If the launch event goes ahead like former events, retail availability will follow around a week after.
