Investigation launched after iPhone explodes on plane

Investigation launched after iPhone explodes on plane

An Apple iPhone has been seized pending investigation after it ‘exploded’ on a plane in Sydney.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau are apparently looking into the incident, and will be looking to talk to Apple as part of the process.

Managing to describe the incident as more of a demonic possession than an explosion, the Australian operator responsible for the flight said: “Regional Express (Rex) flight ZL319 operating from Lismore to Sydney today had an occurrence after landing, when a passenger’s mobile phone started emitting a significant amount of dense smoke, accompanied by a red glow.”

No official explanation for the combustion has been put forth, but we’d like to throw into the ring the possibility that following the raft of iOS apps bitter rival Google has been releasing in the last few weeks, perhaps the notoriously puritanical iPhone committed a type of electronic suicide, feeling polluted by enemy software.

Reports that the device’s new Siri voice interface seemed ‘subdued’ prior to the incident cannot be confirmed.
