Internet users avoid advertising

Matt Grainger
Internet users avoid advertising

A recent survey has found that 39 per cent of internet users around the world feel there are too many ads on the internet, while in the US that number rises to 56 per cent.

The study by Synovate also found that over 80 per cent of users in Australia, Canada, Spain and the United States actively tried to avoid websites that they feel have intrusive advertising.

On the other hand, 42 per cent of respondents said they liked the idea of targeted advertising – the process of tracking internet usage to make advertising more personally relevant to the user. However, 27 per cent rejected the concept as they did not like the methods used to gather data.
