A downloadable preview of Internet Explorer 9 is now available, as Microsoft releases software development kits (SDKs) for its forthcoming browser.
According to CDR Info, the new software includes support for a number of HTML5 applications including CSS3, scalable vector graphics, XHTML parsing and industry-standard codecs. It also features a new JavaScript engine – codenamed Chakra – which runs parallel to the browser and compiles JavaScript on a separate processor core.
Chakra aims to take advantage of the current prevalence of multi-core PCs to make browsing faster and, courtesy of the scalable vector graphics support, it can make it a graphically rich experience.
“Internet Explorer 9 is the first browser to take standard Web patterns that developers use and run them better on modern PCs through Windows,” said Microsoft’s general manager for Internet Explorer, Dean Hachamovitch.
