During Intel’s keynote at this year’s Computex the firm showed off its RealSense camera.
The 3D camera has a 60 fps depth map sensor, allowing interaction in real time.
During the keynote, Intel said the small 3D camera enables real-time depth sensing and natural and immersive interaction.
The firm provided an onscreen demo of RealSense on a laptop. Working with software from Faceshift, it displayed an avatar moving in real time while it tracked fifty different elements and muscles from a person’s face.
Intel revealed that it is releasing an SDK kit with a camera and offering a $1m prize for the best app created with the device. Those interested in taking part can sign up here.
The firm also revealed that eight device makers have already committed to integrating RealSense into an array of devices, including tablets, hybrid 2-in-1s, laptops and AIO PCs.
