Intel is to bring its Core i7 processors to the mobile phone market, with the announcement of the new Core i7 Mobile Processor at the Intel Developer Forum.
The latest addition to the PM55 chipset, the Core i7 Mobile has been specifically designed to work with multi-threaded software, and Intel claims that it can boost performance even when using several of these applications simultaneously.
The biggest selling point of the new processors is that they carry a great many more integrated components and can handle CPU functions, graphic support, video acceleration and memory control with one device.
“Intel has revolutionized the laptop PC processor, delivering performance when you need it, energy efficiency when you don’t,” said Dadi Perlmutter, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Architecture Group.
“For the first time, mobile users can choose a laptop that delivers Internet-server like speed, right in their laps for the most demanding tasks, from intense gaming to digital video editing and social media applications.”
